Hormonal acne is caused by imbalance of our hormones. Our skin has oil glands that are matured due to hormones and that’s the reason why kids do not get acne. Paying a visit to the dermatologist is a good idea towards treatment of hormonal acne. Dermatologists prescribe different and may include Accutane, Differin and antibiotics like Tetracycline, etc. These treatments could work well for some acne sufferers but have their possible side effects. Like Differin could cause dryness and peeling of the skin. Accutane may cause birth defects or suicidal thoughts and behaviors or both. Hence these should be prescribed and used cautiously.

One can also choose from natural substitutes where there is no side effects connected with many acne medications. A homeopathic medicine called vaxa clearin is useful in this and there is no prescription required for this. This is useful in treating hormonal acne when pores get clogged and the body is deficient of certain nutrients which help in removing surplus debris. The pores tend to get dirty and irritated leading to hormonal acne.

In essence treatment of hormonal acne can be categorized in three ways: treatment with oral corticosteroids, treatment with birth control pills and treatment with spironolactone. There are some side effects associated with this kind of treatment like weight gain, headache, depression, mood swings, nausea, irregularity of menstruation, etc. In such cases a dermatologist or physician should be consulted in order to put these side effects under control.
